Jair Bolsonaroformer president of Brazil, was taken beforehand this Saturday, in Brasília, at the request of Federal Police.

According to the first information, this action does not constitute serving a sentenceto which Jair Bolsonaro was condemned, being rather a precautionary measure.

According to the G1 portal, Jair Bolsonaro, who was under house arrest, was taken to the Federal Police facilities, where he will remain in a state rooma space reserved for authorities and prominent public figures.

The arrest was confirmed by the director general of the State Police, Andrei Rodrigues, and by Jair Bolsonaro’s defense lawyer, Celso Villardi.

According to CNN Brasil, the arrest was ordered to guarantee public order. This Friday, Jair Bolsonaro’s son and senator of the Republic, Flávio Bolsonaro, called a vigil in defense of his father, in front of the house of the former Brazilian President. The Federal Police considered that a popular gathering would represent a risky situation.

In September, the majority of judges at the Brazilian High Court voted in favor of convicting Jair Bolsonaro and determined a sentence of 27 years and three monthsof which 24 years and nine months in prison. This was the first time that Brazilian justice placed a former President in the dock, accused of attempted coup d’état.
