Madonna launched strong criticisms of the President of the United States, Donald Trumpregarding the head of state’s stance on the World AIDS Day, which was celebrated on December 1st.

Last week, it was reported that the date would not be marked in the United Statesfor the first time since 1988.

“For four decades, this day has been recognized around the world, by people of all backgrounds, as the HIV crisis has affected millions of lives. People who have lost lovers, husbands and wives, girlfriends and boyfriends and children for this lethal disease, for which there is no cure.”

“It’s one thing to tell federal agents not to mark this day,” Madonna wrote. “But asking people to pretend it never happened is ridiculous, absurd, unimaginable. I bet [Trump] He never saw his best friend die of AIDS, who never held his hand and saw the blood drain from his face, while watching him take his last breath, at 23 years old.”

It is believed that, in this text, Madonna is referring to Martin Burgoyne, his friend and collaboratorwho died from complications caused by AIDS in 1986.

“The list of people I loved who died of AIDS is long. Let me say that again”, he stressed. “There is still no cure for AIDS and I refuse to believe that these people died in vain. I will continue to mark World AIDS Day, and I hope you honor it with me.”
