A Public Administration strike is registering a “huge membership”of 90% in Health and Education, but also in Justice and Tax Authoritytranslating the “widespread feeling” of workers in “move forward to fight”according to CGTP.
“At a general level, the assessment that is being made is at the level of health sectorwhether at the level of the school sector, the Tax Authority [ou] of Justice, what it reveals at this moment is a enormous support from workers in this day of struggle”stated the general secretary of CGTP, Tiago Oliveira.
Aiming for adherence levels “about 90%” in the Health and Education sectors, the head of the center said there was “school establishments completely closed” e “one or another educational establishment that will have opened by decisions of school management, but with a huge lack of assistants providing services in these schools”.
For Tiago Oliveira, this “huge membership” evidence “the widespread feeling of workers to go forward to fight, to denounce the policy that has been followed of wage devaluation, lack of investment in public services and lack of response to the central questions of each person’s life”.
In this context, Tiago Oliveira guarantees that the general strike remains on the tablehighlighting that the fact that only after presenting the State Budget for 2026 the Government starts negotiations with unions regarding salary appreciation in Public Administration “reveals the lack of understanding and lack of notion of what life is like for the majority of workers”.
