In meetings this Wednesday between the Secretary of State for Public Administration (AP), Marisa Garrido, and the unions, there was only one (small) novelty compared to the previous round of negotiations: the promise that the increase in the meal subsidy, already announced from 2027, will advance in 2026. However, Luís Montenegro’s Executive did not change the announced values, that is, the increase will be just 10 cents per day of work, rising from the six euros a day in force since 2023, to 6.1 cents in 2026. New annual increases of 10 cents will follow.
All the remaining demands of the unions, such as the return to 25 days of vacation, and more significant salary increases than foreseen in the agreement signed in 2024 between the public service union structures affiliated to the UGT and the Executive, continue to receive no positive response from the Ministry of Finance.
