Portugal is the champion of alcoholic beverage consumption and this is also reflected in production: we are the 5th largest producer in Europe. You could even say that drinking alcohol is cultural: “will you have another glass? It’s just one more”. But this is a scourge that devastates families and clogs the NHS. Are we really willing to suffer for a moment of pleasure?

Alcohol is accepted by society and its consumption even seems to be encouraged. But will this change? Studies indicate that wine consumption is decreasing, but will there be another drink to replace it?
