One year after a very special edition that celebrated 40 years since the founding of the BLITZ brand – which took place on November 6, 1984, the date of publication of the 1st issue of the then weekly newspaper –, BLITZ publishes a brand new second volume to read, watch and save, which closes the cycle of celebrations for the 40th anniversary, which also included a big party at the Meo Arena, in Lisbon, in December last year.
The best international albums… and more great Portuguese music
With 132 pages, an XL format and improved paper, it is also a festival of music from the last 40 years, as its main highlight is the election of the 40 best international music albums published since 1984a vote for which we called again a vast jury of personalities from the music world, including artists, agents, journalists and editors.
In this edition, you can also find:
⇒ a historic interview conducted by BLITZ with Dave Grohl, drummer of Nirvanaduring the first and only visit of the “Nevermind” band to Portugal, in February 1994
⇒ praise for “Dummy”, by Portishead, one of the most emblematic albums released since the founding of BLITZwith the generous participation of guitarist and composer Adrian Utleywhich explains how the Bristol trio’s masterpiece was created
⇒ plus 40 great Portuguese music albums released from 1984 to 2023: positions 41st to 80th on the list started in the first volume, following the vote of a jury of almost two hundred personalities, and with reviews of each of the albums

⇒ a history of stadium concerts in Portugalwhich begins in the 70s and continues to this day, covering – also in images – the great figures who have appeared on the biggest Portuguese stages in recent decades, from the Rolling Stones to Taylor Swift
The publication of this special edition is the culmination of a year of celebrations that included the election of the best Portuguese music albums, a memorable concert at Meo Arena with Xutos & Pontapés, Capitão Fausto, Maro and Gisela João, in addition to several intimate performances in the newsroom, and dozens of interviews and ‘podcasts’ celebrating the music of the last 40 years.
