The president of the BBC, Samir Shah, has already apologized for what he considered to be an “error of assessment” regarding the edition and announced the opening of an internal investigation.
According to ‘The Guardian’, there are also elements within the corporation determined to be robust in defending their journalism in the face of Trump’s allegations that there were “false” and “defamatory” statements made against him.

This Wednesday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer argued that “in an era of misinformation, the argument for an impartial British news service is stronger than ever” and therefore supported “a strong and independent BBC”. However, he also pointed to the need for accountability. “When mistakes are made, they need to put their house in order,” said Starmer, quoted by Reuters.

A BBC indicates that the broadcaster has up to to 10pm (in mainland Portugal) on Friday to respond to the letter he received from Donald Trump’s lawyers, demanding a “fair and complete portrayal of the documentary”, an apology and that the BBC “adequately” compensate President Trump for the damage caused. Otherwise, you could be the target of a lawsuit demanding at least a billion dollars (865 million euros).
