The daily accident report from the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), for November 27, shows that until Wednesday there were 7,123 more accidents than in the same period last year (5.5% more), while the number of deaths decreased by 10.8% (47 less).
During the period under analysis, 131,803 road accidents were recorded, causing 388 deaths, according to ANSR data. There were more disasters, but fewer deaths compared to the same period in 2024.
Accidents on Portuguese roads also caused 2,538 serious injuries, 33 more than in the same period last year (1.3% more), and 40,069 minor injuries (730 fewer).
These ANSR figures do not yet include the six young people who died charred this morning, after the crash of a light vehicle that caught fire after the collision in Lisbon, nor the two people who died on Saturday when a vehicle fell on the river beach of Pedrógão Grande, Leiria.
According to Road Safety, Lisbon is the district with the most accidents (22,568), followed by Porto (21,752) and Aveiro (10,081). Lisbon and Porto are also the districts with the most fatalities – with 44 and 41 deaths, respectively –, followed by Setúbal (32).
ANSR data relates to the dead whose death was declared at the scene of the accident or on the way to the hospital.
