Four young Portuguese people, residing in Switzerland, died in an accident in France on Friday night, when the car they were traveling in crashed, according to French authorities cited today by the agency France-Presse (AFP).
The victims of the accident, which took place in Collonges, a municipality located on the border between France and Switzerland, are two boys, one aged 16 and the other aged 18, and two girls, both aged 18, according to the deputy attorney general of the French commune of Bourg-en-Bresse, Antoine Celle, speaking to AFP.
Antoine Celle stated that the young people, two couples who “had Portuguese nationality and reside in Switzerland”, were traveling to Paris.
The first elements collected “do not lead to the belief that they had consumed drugs or alcohol”, added the deputy attorney general, mentioning that an autopsy had been ordered on the bodies.
The accident happened at 10:30 pm local time (9:30 pm in Lisbon) on Friday.
After the crash, the vehicle crashed into something, which is not specified by the AFP, and caught fire.
“Despite the intervention of firefighters after a call to 112, all occupants were declared dead,” according to a source from local authorities speaking to AFP.
