The vegetable vendor won the Punjab State Lottery’s Diwali Bumper 2025 draw. Amit Sehra had bought two tickets during a visit to Punjab after borrowing Rs 1,000 from a friend. One of the tickets, purchased for Rs 500 in Bathinda, hit the jackpot, as he told ANI. The other ticket won Rs 1,000. Officials from the Punjab State Lottery Department confirmed that he has submitted his documents to claim the prize.

Borrowed money for tickets
According to online reports, Amit, who sells vegetables from a small cart, borrowed Rs 1,000 from a friend while in Moga. He used the money to buy lottery tickets for himself and his wife. The ticket bought in Bathinda turned out to be the winning ticket worth Rs 11 crore.

Speaking to ANI, Amit said, “I can’t express my happiness. I thank the Punjab government and the lottery agency. All my grief has vanished today,” adding that he is a “devotee of Lord Hanuman.”
His emotional words, “Meri saari gareebi khatam ho gayi,” spread online and sparked conversation.
Plans for money
Amit said he will support his friend’s daughters as a gesture of gratitude. “I have lost my mother, so I understand the pain of daughters. The rest of the money will go towards my children’s education and building a house,” he said.He stated he plans to give Rs 50 lakh each to his friend’s two daughters.
