“Doctor Gustavo Olaiz Fernández, head of the General Directorate of Health Care (DGAS) and person in charge of the center, reported that on Friday afternoon a group of people, who arrived after the conclusion of that day’s operations, shouted out to be vaccinated. When the university staff clarified that they could attend the next day, some provocateurs attacked and beat university workers,” he said in a statement.
The UNAM highlighted that until yesterday, Friday the 14th, 30,862 people were assisted and 73,671 vaccines were administered; Of them, 27,009 were influenza, 11,380 were pneumococcus, 26,274 were COVID-19, and 9,008 were triple viral vaccines.

Likewise, the institution categorically condemned any form of violence and regretted that these expressions have affected the operation of the Mega Vaccination Center.
“The lagging people who could not be immunized on Friday the 14th will be contacted starting Tuesday the 18th by the UNAM General Directorate of Health Care to vaccinate them in small groups,” he added.
The UNAM thanked the thousands of people who attended to receive their immunizations, as well as the IMSS, the ISSSTE, PEMEX and the Federal and Mexico City Health Secretariats, and expressed its recognition to the volunteers of the university community who, in days of more than 12 hours, made this campaign possible.
The UNAM has been involved in various attacks, which began after last September 22, Alex Ashton, a student at the College of Sciences and Humanities (CCH) South campus, attacked a student, depriving him of his life, and injuring another person.
