In the midst of growing tension due to the road blockades installed in much of the country, the federal government’s attempt to unblock the conflict faced a new setback, after representatives of peasant and transport organizations chose to break off the dialogue and abandon the table convened in the Interior.
Mexico City, November 25 (However).- After a meeting of almost five hours with the Secretary of the Interior, Rose ice Rodríguezorganizational leaders carriers and peasant women decided to leave the dialogue table, accusing a lack of “political sensitivity” on the part of the federal government.
The representatives indicated that among their main concerns is insecurity on roads, where, they stated, many transporters “expose themselves and lose their lives.” They also reported that the steps to follow will be subject to consultation among the members of the 40 blockades installed in 26 states of the country.
Baltazar Valdés, one of the leaders, assured that, upon leaving the meeting, the authorities warned them that they had to remove the blockades or they would be lifted by force. Therefore, they indicated that tomorrow the blockades with farmers and trailers will increase.
“Send a message to our fellow producers who are currently in the booths and at customs, that it is time to resist, colleagues, we need to stay there, this has opened the door for us and I am sure that if we resist they will come back to look for us,” he expressed.

Segob calls to resume dialogue
Hours later, the Ministry of the Interior released an official statement in which it confirmed the holding of the dialogue table, called after the blockades and mobilizations registered on Monday on various roads in the country.
The agency pointed out that, despite the disposition shown by the federal government, the dissatisfied groups maintained the closures of some road sections and even expanded the number of blockades, causing damage by preventing the passage of ambulances, firefighters, emergency services and transportation of perishable goods.
According to Segob, from the beginning of the meeting the leaders were asked to communicate with their members to allow free movement and thus advance in addressing their demands, without this happening.
Segob reiterated that the Government of Mexico maintains a permanent disposition for dialogue and consultation with all social sectors, prioritizing the well-being of citizens.
