MERIDA.— The National Institute of Anthropology and History plans the construction of the Center for Attention to Tourists and Visitors (CATVI) Uxmalin the municipality of Saint Helenaas part of the complementary works of the Maya Trends. This work would also involve the vegetation removal in an area of 2.03 hectares, where the change in land use of forest land will be carried out.
As part of the work procedures, the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources announced yesterday the beginning of the public consultation to carry out the “CATVI Uxmal”. According to the notice published by the General Directorate of Environmental Impact and Risk, the process began last October 20 and will be open until November 14.

The project is located one kilometer south of the archaeological zone of Uxmal. It will occupy a total area of 4.05 hectares within a delimited polygon. To mitigate the damage, the INAH proposes environmental compensation actionsl. It includes the reforestation of two hectares with native species, and the implementation of rescue and relocation programs for flora and fauna during the land preparation phase. The project details that the CATVI Uxmal It will have spaces for ticket offices, exhibition rooms and sales of crafts. It will also have traditional cuisine, toilets, parking, rest areas and administrative services. In addition, it will include a multipurpose room adaptable for cultural and educational activities, with a universal accessibility design and natural ventilation.
The technical document details that the construction phase will last approximately 12 monthsincluding site preparation, construction of main structures and installation of basic services.
