He man who harassed President Claudia Sheinbaum while taking a walking tour of the Historic Center of the Mexico Cityis already detained, according to information from Carlos Jiménez (C4).
The incident, as reported, occurred on República de Argentina Street, a few meters from National Palacewhen the president was heading towards the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).
According to C4, cited by Publimetro, hours later it was confirmed that the subject identified as Uriel Rivera was arrested.
In a video that circulated on social networks, and that quickly went viral, you can see how the man who appeared to be intoxicatedapproaches the president from behind, hugs her and tries to kiss her without her consent.
The man touched her on various parts of her body, including her shoulders and waist, a fact that has caused the indignation of several women who experience street harassment in Mexico every day. Meanwhile, a political party has criticized the event, calling it a “montage,” since the president’s image was recently affected by her statements regarding the death of Carlos Manzo, which occurred over the weekend while she was carrying her young son.

Around 10:00 p.m., capital authorities confirmed that the man was arrested and transferred to an agency of the Public Ministry, where his legal situation will be determined.
