The creators of The secrets carried by the wind They are committed to a theater that questions the emotional disconnection of contemporary society.
Mexico City, November 12 (However).- The work The secrets carried by the wind will be presented at the El Hormiguero Cultural Center starting on November 26 to invite the public to look squarely at the silences, losses and invisible ties that sustain us in the face of loneliness.
What is it about?
The story introduces us to Julio and Lucía, a couple trapped in a cycle of disconnection. After months of therapy, nothing seems to work. His friends, Rafa and Les, worried about the situation, introduce Julio to Alba, a woman who transforms his way of seeing the world. Meanwhile, Lucía clings with all her might to what once was. In this triangle of grief, love and memory, the work explores the impossibility of letting go, the daily emptiness and the fear of continuing to live after a loss.
The emotional disconnection
Under the direction of Elizabeth Pedroza, a graduate of the University Theater Center (CUT/UNAM) and beneficiary of the SACPC Performing Creators program, the play takes place in an apartment where light and sound are the true narrators of the soul.
The direction is committed to a minimalist and emotional aesthetic: cold and dim lights for the darkest moods, subtle transitions to portray routine and a warm and hopeful atmosphere around Alba, “the light of dawn.”
The sound design accompanies the jumps between past and present, life and death, reality and memory. The window—the central symbol of the montage—becomes the threshold between the interior and the exterior, between the life that is gone and the one that is trying to be reborn.
The production features the performances of Zury Campos, Arantxa Mares, Ra Moren, Santiago Dávila and Regina Yaeggy herself, who give life to vulnerable, fragile and deeply human characters. All of them are part of a generation of creators who graduated from CasAzul, committed to a theater that questions the emotional disconnection of contemporary society.
Mental health
The project also marks the first original production of Espectro Escánico, a collective that seeks to generate conversation around mental health, support and emotional resilience.
“We are interested in reflecting how having a circle of support is necessary, and how meeting others can function as a lifeline in the face of emptiness,” said Regina Yaeggy, playwright and producer.
