With a Eucharist concelebrated by at least 10 of the 22 priests who have left the classrooms of the Montejo University Center (CUM), led by Monsignor Jorge Carlos Patrón Wong, as well as a dinner dance that will be the reunion of around two thousand former students, students, teachers and former directors, the educational establishment will close the celebrations of its 65th this month. founding anniversary.

Josué Quintal Gurubel, general director of the CUM, told the Diario that little by little, since the beginning of the celebrations, the main objective has been met: “That the Marist community of the CUM and the Montejo School can meet again.”
“The 60 years (of existence) could not be celebrated due to (the confinement forced by) the pandemic, but it allowed us to become closer. We have already had two successful events and we hope to close better,” he said.
He pointed out that, in addition to Monsignor Patrón Wong, other personalities who will attend the closing activities of the celebrations are Brother Luis Enrique Rodríguez Santana, head of the Western Mexico Province of the Marist Brothers, and former directors who have left their mark on the institution, such as Manuel Franco Jáuregui “Chiquilín” and Luis Roberto González González, the last religious before the direction of the CUM fell to lay people.
On a visit to the Diario, accompanied by Jorge Antonio Lechuga Núñez and Alejandra Abreu Sacramento, president and member, respectively, of the 65th celebrations committee. anniversary, the general director of the Montejo University Center specified that on Wednesday the 19th the closing activities will begin with the first of two conversations, which will be followed by mass and dinner dance.
Alejandra Abreu reported that “within the framework of these celebrations we have planned several activities, some events have already taken place and others are aimed at the entire Marist community, not just the alumni.”
“We will have the presence of several Marist brothers who have been part of the history of CUM and Colegio Montejo,” he anticipated.
The central event will be the Eucharist, scheduled for Thursday the 20th, at 7 in the morning, at the CUM facilities in Loma Bonita.
“We will be accompanied by Marist brothers, alumni and priests who will concelebrate the ceremony. This is a great opportunity to meet again and remember our history together,” he added.
Quintal Gurubel highlighted that on this occasion they have two very important reasons to celebrate: first, that there are 22 priests who have passed through the classrooms of CUM and Montejo, of which at least 10 have already confirmed that they will attend the religious ceremony.
The second reason is that “there are already more than 9,000 graduates in these 65 years, it will be an excellent closing of the celebrations and it has been achieved that the Marist community is together celebrating CUM, but also Montejo and the University because we are an entire community.”
Elaborating on the details, Alejandra Abreu explained that on Wednesday the 19th, taking advantage of the visit of the alumni who will arrive for the closing, the first conversation will be held with them and current middle and high school students to exchange ideas and reflections.
Jorge Lechuga highlighted the importance of the dinner dance that will close the celebrations on Friday the 21st. “Anyone linked to the Marist community is invited to participate, not only alumni, but also friends and family. It is an event for all those who feel part of this family,” he stated.
The tickets have been on sale since August and the price is 1,100 pesos plus commission, said Lechuga, who pointed out that the deadline to purchase them is next Monday the 10th, through the tusboletos.mx site.
During dinner, the interviewee added, videos will be projected in two stages to remember the 65 years of history of the school and there will be music and a festive atmosphere.
“The most important thing is the reunion. This event allows us to bring together alumni from different generations, teachers and directors, and celebrate our Marist identity,” he highlighted.— DAVID DOMÍNGUEZ MASSA
