With an investment of six million pesos, ISSSTE inaugurated the Robotic Surgery Center at the “Lic. Adolfo López Mateos” Regional Hospital.

Mexico City, October 27 (However).- As part of the actions carried out by the Government of Mexico In terms of health, the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE) inaugurated the Robotic Surgery Center of the Regional Hospital (HR) “Lic. Adolfo López Mateos”in Mexico City, which has a new Da Vinci robot which allows the performance of minimally invasive and high-precision surgical procedures.

Through a statementhe ISSSTE He explained that the robot is “composed of robotic arms, levers and a console that ensures millimeter movements,” in addition to the fact that it has already been used in two surgeries to women: a 72-year-old who had a tumor in the ovary, and another 76-year-old with cervical cancer.

“The two patients are already in the recovery area, with post-recovery indications and without any complications,” said Félix Octavio Martínez Alcalá, director of the hospital.

Alcalá also pointed out that an investment of six million pesos was made to build the Center, which is expected to benefit an estimated 500 beneficiaries annually, who will undergo robotic oncological, gynecological and urological surgeries. “These are the three areas that are going to be addressed here in this center,” he said.

“The Robotic Surgery Center was equipped with a pre-surgery area, consisting of two beds, as well as a recovery area with four beds available, and two operating rooms equipped with what is necessary to provide security to beneficiaries,” the ISSSTE noted in its statement.

For his part, the director of the Regional Hospital stated that the operating rooms have all the necessary requirements for the safety of patients, in addition to the fact that the Center was designed with a focus on short-stay surgery.

Likewise, he highlighted the benefits of robotic surgery, since it allows much more precise procedures to be carried out, with greater safety and with a shorter recovery time.

“I believe that this is an example of the transformation of the ISSSTE and the policies that our general director, Dr. Martí Batres Guadarrama and our medical director, Dr. Reyes Terán, have set for us, who are attentive to ensuring that we are at the forefront and have the best for our beneficiaries,” he said.
