“Halloween just ended and they started playing Christmas carols!”

Belén Otoñal.- A resident of Salamanca decided to report his neighbors to “the corresponding authorities” after they decorated for Christmas in a “hasty” manner.

The subject, identified as Saúl M., assured that the act constitutes “a serious breach of the emotional order of the neighborhood,” clarifying that he does not plan to allow Christmas to arrive early.

He believes that Christmas should begin in mid-December.

“They put lights on the façade, little lanterns and an inflatable reindeer… I mean, I’m still doing the Buen Fin calculations and these guys are already making tamales.”“, the subject complained while still looking out the window of his house.

In his complaint, the “local Grinch”—as the children of the neighborhood call him—also mentioned that his neighbors have been playing Spanish Christmas carols alternating with songs by Mariah Carey since the beginning of the month, which did not allow him to “close the Halloween cycle well.”

“The Day of the Dead had just passed and they were already putting up little rolls of those that are used to ask for an inn,” added the citizen, concerned about the natural cycles of the anniversaries.

The municipal authorities confirmed that they received the complaint and, although they assured that the decoration of their neighbors is indeed excessive, they clarified that there is no official regulation that prohibits early decoration. However, they promised to “provide emotional follow-up” to the complainant to prevent him from dialing 911 again in case he sees a Nativity when he goes to the corner store.
