Mexico City, November 20 (However).– The Secretary of the Navy (Semar) reported that he has concluded with his work Plan Marina activated for the states of Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla y San Luis Potosiwhere it was deployed before the devastating rains and floods that they left at least 80 muertos and thousands of people affected.

In Veracruz, detailed Semar, 4,046 naval elements were deployed who assisted 12,737 people and carried out 9,641 transfers to shelters primarily in the municipalities of Poza Rica, Álamo Tempache, El Higo, Zacualpan, Texcatepec, Zontecomatlán, Ilamatlán and Ixhuatlán de Madero; In addition, they carried out 71 air evacuations of the population that was in risk areas.

Semar provided 23,677 medical services and 1,512 communication routes were cleared in the streets, 144,060 cubic meters of mud, garbage and debris were removed, as well as 6,497 trees and trees.

Likewise, 81,629 hot rations, 71,130 liters of potable water, 182,859 liters of bottled water were provided, and five sea bridges were implemented to reach communities that are difficult to access. Many of these supports were brought to all of the aforementioned municipalities through air bridges implemented from Poza Rica.

Semar carried out the deployment of the Marine Plan in Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí, the entities hardest hit by the rains and the consequent floods, where a total of 5,735 naval elements, 15 Emergency Response Brigades and seven Command Posts were deployed.

“It was a total commitment of the naval personnel who worked day and night for the well-being of seniors, adults, youth and children, who at all times offered their help to join forces in the face of the emergency,” said Semar.

To this end, the agency deployed 112 vehicles, eight planes, 10 helicopters, seven ships, 10 drones, six water purification plants, nine mobile kitchens, 131 pieces of heavy machinery and 20 boats, which were made available to bring aid to places that are difficult to access.

In total, Semar personnel supported 14,722 people who were evacuated from flooded areas, provided 28,493 medical services, carried out 9,641 transfers to shelters, 276 air operations, 86 air evacuations and the implementation of five sea bridges.

Semar removes trees, debris… and mud

Semar cleared a total of 1,766 communication routes and collected 181,273 cubic meters of garbage, mud and debris, as well as 6,902 trees and removed specimens.

Thanks to the donations, Semar was able to directly deliver 110,554 food items, 133,840 hot meals, 119,530 liters of purified water and 276,946 liters of bottled water. “This was possible thanks to the unconditional support of citizens who went to the 70 Collection Centers opened by the Secretary of the Navy for the delivery of food and humanitarian aid,” highlighted the naval agency.

In total, Semar served 22 municipalities in Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí, where 49 communities were helped, 22 medical campaigns were implemented, 110,676 people were served and 27,669 families benefited.

And the federal government announced at the end of October that there were 80 deaths due to the emergency caused by the devastating rains in five states of the country, Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí. The Welfare Secretariat reported that so far 92,024 homes have been censused for the delivery of support. In addition, 202 communities now have access of the 288 that remained cut off and traffic has been restored on all affected federal highways.

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported last week that the Government of Mexico has allocated a social investment of seven thousand 426 million 125 thousand pesos to serve 104 thousand families affected by the extraordinary rains recorded in the center of the country. In December, he added, the process of rebuilding homes, roads, and drinking water and drainage systems in damaged areas will begin.
