Federal representatives and the motor transportation business sector agreed to set up working groups to define strategies to stop extortion.
Mexico City, November 28 (However).- The President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo instructed this Friday to Security Cabinet to meet with him motor transport sector and deepen the collaboration to advance in security on roads and combat extortion that affects this union.
In representation, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuchthanked the participation of the cameras, associations y companies of the motor transport that echoed the presidential initiative.
The federal official highlighted that the intelligence and investigation areas of the SSPC are going through a strengthening process, whose objective is to follow up on the investigation files for motor transport theft in different delegations of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR)in order to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation.
He added that, within the framework of the National Strategy against Extortion, the requests raised by the representatives of the transporters will be attended to to improve road safety and avoid extortion.

For García Harfuch, cooperation meetings with the sector make it possible to evaluate and perfect ongoing strategies to combat highway robbery. In his speech, he announced that there will be more meetings of this type, so that state and municipal authorities can participate in the coordination work.
For his part, the Commander of the National Guard, Hernán Cortés Hernández, presented the advances in the fight against highway robbery.
He detailed that, between 2018 and 2025, this crime registered a reduction of 54 percent. He explained that, after an analysis of crime incidence, 12 states and 22 highway sections with higher risk were identified, which made it possible to design a comprehensive strategy with safe corridors, caravan accompaniment, monitoring of cargo transportation and operational deployments supported by technology.
The federal official highlighted that, to date, 495 meetings have been held with representatives of different motor transportation chambers to “identify risks, adjust deployments, improve response times and strengthen trust with the sector.”
César Yáñez Centeno, Undersecretary of the Interior, recognized the economic importance of the activity of this union and indicated that Claudia Sheinbaum’s Administration is working on structural solutions to meet the demands of the sector.
The undersecretary of Criminal Policy, Liaison and Civil Protection, José Luis Rodríguez Díaz de León, participated in the meeting; the commissioner of the Federal Protection Service, Francisco Javier Moreno Montaño; as well as representatives of chambers, associations and companies involved in the transportation of goods, services and products.
