Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday reacted to the Bihar election outcome, calling the result “surprising” and alleging that the contest “was not fair from the very beginning.” In a post on X, Gandhi said the Congress and the wider INDIA bloc will undertake an “in-depth review” of the Bihar poll results. He added that the alliance will make “more effective efforts to save democracy” going forward.
“The result in Bihar is surprising; we could not achieve victory in an election which was not fair from the very beginning,” Gandhi said. He further noted that the Congress and INDIA bloc partners would examine the outcome closely to identify gaps and strengthen their strategy.
The remarks come amid opposition allegations of procedural irregularities and concerns over the conduct of the election. The Congress, which contested as part of the INDIA coalition, underperformed compared to its expectations, prompting calls for internal assessment
