Mexico City, November 1 (However).- With the purpose of sharing “The truth and nothing but the truth”, the businessman billionaire Elon Musk launched Grokipediaa digital encyclopedia, created by the artificial intelligence Grok, with which it seeks to promote extreme right-wing ideology, as it exalts racial supremacy, the existence of only biological sex and accuses Wikipediaits direct competition, of having a leftist bias.
This Monday, October 27, it officially started Grokipediacreation of Musk through his company xAI, which as of Monday afternoon already had approximately 885 thousand articles, all in English, for the moment, however, the magnate assured that version 1.0 will be “ten times better” than the recently launched one, which he already considers “better than Wikipedia.”
“The goal of Grok and Grokipedia.com is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We will never be perfect, but we will still strive to achieve that goal,” Musk said in a post on his social network X about Grokipedia, which he said is free access, allowing anyone to use it for free for any purpose.
The content that can be found on Grokipedia is generated by artificial intelligence (AI) using the generative assistant Grok, but despite the fact that this system cites several sources, a right-wing ideological orientation is evident. For example, when defining gender, Musk’s platform notes that it is “the binary classification of human beings as men or women based on biological sex.”
Regarding the murder of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer in Minnesota, which gave rise to the Black Lives Matter movement, Grokipedia states that “he was an American man with a long criminal history, which included convictions for armed robbery, drug possession and theft in Texas between 1997 and 2007.”
Furthermore, regarding the protests that arose after Floyd’s death, Grokipedia pointed out that it mobilized millions of people, but also mentions that the demonstrations led to riots that caused more than 25 deaths, material damage valued as the most expensive in the history of insurance, and an accelerated urban decline in the affected areas.
Only later is data from the Acled organization cited, which indicates that 93 percent of the protests were peaceful, compared to 5 percent that were violent. However, Grokipedia questions these figures, calling them “underestimating the troublemakers.”
But Musk’s platform is not limited to giving definitions based on right-wing ideology, it also dares to ensure that race defines IQ. In this sense, when listing the “races,” it mentions whites of American origin first, even though, according to Grokipedia, East Asians surpass them.
“In the United States, meta-analyses of numerous studies show consistent average differences in IQ between different racial groups: white Americans typically score around 100, African Americans around 85, Hispanics around 90, and East Asians around 105, while Ashkenazi Jews typically score above 110,” the platform notes.
Another example of the trend towards right-wing ideology is the article dedicated to conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, who highlights his role in denouncing “the systemic biases of traditional journalism”, citing an article by Newsweek which only mentions these biases in statements by Carlson himself.
