In an interview with the media, he highlighted that the postponement seeks to reach agreements between all parliamentary groups and rejected accusations that Morena is promoting the reform for fear of losing in the midterm elections. He assured that the proposal aims to “give more strength to civic participation.” In the same interview he was categorical in stating that the opinion to reform article 35 of the Constitution will be approved unanimously.
“We want to find points of agreement between all the parliamentary groups, all the academic sectors. I am optimistic: we are going to issue the opinion to reform article 35 of the Constitution unanimously. […] We want to bring about a reform to article 35 together, unanimously, to give a lot of strength and a lot of civic participation to the revocation of the mandate,” he responded to the media.
And later, in response to the insistence on whether they will be able to achieve the reform, the legislator insisted: “Right now we are going to see the plan that the Deputy has, but the reform is going. #MañaneraPresidenta | 🗳️ Claudia Sheinbaum recalled that the revocation of the mandate is an achievement of the people, promoted by AMLO.
He questioned the opposition:

It is worth remembering that yesterday, President Claudia Sheinbaum herself, during her press conference, highlighted the importance of the deputies discussing the initiative to advance the revocation consultation to 2027. She stated that “if it cannot be approved in this period, it should be reviewed and, in any case, it could be approved in the following period.”
Today, the federal president once again defended the proposal to carry out the revocation of the mandate in 2027 and not in 2028. She responded to criticism from the opposition, which points out that her presence on the ballot would give Morena an advantage, while the parties that are not part of the Fourth Transformation would be at a disadvantage.
Regarding Morena’s arguments to defend the reform, Ramírez Cuéllar affirmed that the constitutional modification regarding the revocation of mandate will strengthen citizen participation and generate an estimated saving of almost five billion pesos.
The legislator explained that the coincidence of the revocation with the federal and local electoral processes will not represent a problem, but will encourage greater participation. He explained that, if around 190,000 polling stations are installed, voting could increase by up to 17 percent, which would allow citizen participation to reach up to 70 percent in the exercise.
In addition, he highlighted that, together with the economic savings of almost five billion pesos, the reform would reduce the costs of political tension generated by electoral processes that are very close to each other.
Regarding the calendar to resume the analysis of the initiative, he indicated that the Constitutional Points Commission, headed by Leonel Godoy, will be responsible for defining the work route and the consultation mechanisms.
Faced with questions about possible political advantages, Ramírez Cuéllar clarified that the central purpose of the reform is “to ratify the citizen’s right to revoke the mandates of the rulers and guarantee the most appropriate date” for its implementation.
