The federal government, workers and employers agreed on a schedule of gradual reduction of two hours per year starting in 2027.

Mexico City, December 1 (However).- The President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced this Wednesday that Mexico will advance towards 40 hour work day weekly through a gradual scheme agreed between workers, employers and the Government federal.
The plan establishes a reduction gradual two hours per year:
- 2027: 46 hours a week
- 2028: 44 hours a week
- 2029: 42 hours a week
- 2030: 40 hours a week
The head of the Ministry of Labor, Marath Baruch Bolaños López, explained that the measure seeks to balance productivity and well-being, allowing companies and employees to adapt in an orderly manner.
Meanwhile, the federal president recalled that this agreement responds to a historic demand of the working class and represents a step towards labor justice within the Fourth Transformation (Q4) project.
