Taking into account the commitment to reduce extreme poverty in Mérida, improve the quality of life and strengthen the well-being of the most vulnerable families, the municipal president Cecilia Patrón Laviada delivered support for people in self-employmentindicates a bulletin.
“We want Mérida to be a city of opportunities for everyone, that is why the City Council works every day with conviction to promote the economy of families with social justice, promoting the fair and equitable growth of the city,” said the mayor from the Emiliano Zapata Sur II colony.
With Arturo León Itzá, director of Social Development and Combating Poverty, The mayor pointed out that during 2025 support has been delivered in benefit of more than 7,000 people in poverty, which reflects the commitment of the Mérida City Council to inclusion and social well-being.
On this occasion, a frame, four sewing machines, 72 zinc sheets and 16 tricycles were delivered.
“Prosperity and quality of life are the rights of all of us who live in Mérida, and this is what we assume from our municipal government,” added the mayor.
“As close and sensitive authorities, we work to provide them with increasingly better conditions for their development, because we all deserve opportunities for progress.”
The councilor stressed that the delivery of this support is one more step on the path towards building a more fair and equitable city, where all people have access to opportunities and resources to improve their quality of life.
“Our social support programs highlight us as a supportive, human City Council that knows that by growing together with an even floor we have a strong Mérida, where the center of our actions are the people of Merida,” he remarked.
He also highlighted that The City Council continues working to listen and dialogue with citizens, and that these supports are an example of their commitment to social justice and the well-being of Merida families.
“You have the commitment of the City Council to remain close to you, and that corresponds to the support and trust you have placed in us,” concluded Cecilia Patrón.
These actions are framed within the Inclusion, Well-being and Social Development Axis of the Municipal Development Plan 2024-2027.
