Martí Batres highlighted that, in the first year of Claudia Sheinbaum’s Government, the ISSSTE reinforced its first level of care, the nationalization of services and the supply of medicines, in addition to recovering FOVISSSTE and SuperISSSTE.
Mexico City, November 7 (However).- The General Director of the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), Martí Batres Guadarramapresented this Friday, before the Chamber of Deputiesthe progress and results of the organization in charge during the first year of the President’s Government Claudia Sheinbaumsince its management seeks to combat the neoliberal policies who dismantled it for more than three decades.
“We have been rebuilding for seven years, but we are still going to continue rebuilding in the following years. (…) One of the fundamental battles for the public and the social is fought in the health sector, dismantling private businesses at the expense of the treasury and the culture of mistreatment from power. The vision of public health as a private business is over; (…) health is a right, it is not a business,” he stressed.
In this sense, Batres Guadarrama dHe highlighted the strengthening of the Institute with the expansion of the health infrastructure, reinforcement of the first level of care, nationalization of services, technological and scientific modernization, labor improvements, supply of medicines, the recovery of the Housing Fund of the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (FOVISSSTE), SuperISSSTE and other social services, care of resources, as well as implementation of the Decent Treatment strategy.
In the case of the acquisition process of the Tláhuac General Hospital, the Director explained that the ISSSTE takes the necessary steps to finalize the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract with the company that manages the unit, which, after a year of negotiations, has not wanted to reach a purchase agreement.
“That company that has the Tláhuac hospital today receives 137 million pesos per month, if we multiply it by 23 years, it gives us more than 37 billion pesos, (…) Why is the ISSSTE going to pay 37 billion pesos to a company for a hospital, if a 250-bed hospital with advanced technology in Oaxaca is going to cost us three thousand 500 million? It is not logical,” he stated.
Furthermore, he explained that the ISSSTE resumed the operation of the “Dr. Daniel Gurría Urgell” General Hospital, in Villahermosa, Tabasco; from HG “Dr. Aquiles Calles Ramírez, La Cantera”, in Tepic, Nayarit; as well as the Mérida Hospital Clinic, in Susulá, Yucatán, which operated under the PPP scheme, without the need for litigation, compensation or penalties derived from the termination of the contract.
Martí Batres toHe announced that, among other actions, the ISSSTE has among its plans the construction of at least five projects of general hospitals or hospital clinics: in Sonora, Chihuahua, Tlaxcala, the Purépecha plateau, in Michoacán, and the reconstruction of the “Dr. Darío Fernández Fierro” General Hospital, in Mexico City, where partial improvements have been made so far.
Regarding the progress and results of the ISSSTE, the official highlighted the implementation of the ISSSTE La Clínica es Nuestra Program, and indicated that 562 first-level care units were served, through the acquisition of 2,473 medical equipment and the completion of 2,430 improvement works, in addition to the replacement of 486 old ambulances with 695 new ones and the rehabilitation of 38 operating rooms in more than 20 medical units throughout the country.
In this sense, he celebrated the acquisition of a linear accelerator for the “Centenario de la Revolución Mexicana” Regional Hospital (HR) in Morelos, and the incorporation of six Da Vinci robots for advanced oncological, gynecological and urological surgery, making the ISSSTE the public institution with the largest number of these pieces of equipment. and shared that the supply of medicines is strengthened, through the National Distribution Center (CENADI), which manages Biological and Reagent Laboratories of Mexico (Birmex), where 47 million 168 thousand pieces of drugs are currently stored, which are distributed to about 786 ISSSTE units in the country.
“We have made an important leap. We have an average of 97 percent supply in keys. (…) We are in a good moment. In fact, about three days ago we had an excellent day, about two million pieces arrived at CENADI,” he assured.
In terms of Social Benefits and Services, Batres Guadarrama pointed out that the operation of the ISSSTEHuixtla Recreational and Cultural Center and the swimming pool of the Presidente Alemán Urban Center (CUPA) were restored;
In the same list of ideas, the Director of the ISSSTE highlighted that the State Workers Housing Fund (FOVISSSTE) was one of the most benefited areas, since following the decree of President Claudia Sheinbaum, a program was implemented to freeze, reduce or totally forgive the problematic or unpayable debts of 400 thousand borrowers, and recovered the historical and essential attribution of building homes.
Finally, Martí Batres highlighted that, to promote transparency and legality, an administrative procedure was initiated to reduce excessive pensions and adjust them to the proportions established by law, of which there are 110 firm resolutions, which represents a saving of 78 million.
