TIZIMÍN.— After several days of suspension in the cleaning and compaction work, just a couple of days ago a bulldozer arrived at the municipal landfill that will allow the work of reorganizing the waste to be resumed and give a respite to the problem of garbage accumulation that had begun to saturate the site.
The Tizimín landfill has been one of the constant issues in municipal administrations, mainly due to the high cost involved in its maintenance, due to the use of heavy machinery necessary to compact and distribute the waste.
The lack of adequate equipment had caused a pause in cleaning efforts in recent days, which generated concern among residents about the increase in waste in the area.
The deputy director of Public Services, Manuel Alcocer Perera, explained that the delay was due to the fact that the machinery had not arrived on time, but that with the delivery of this new bulldozer, work was resumed on a regular basis.
“We had some problems because the equipment did not arrive, but this week we were able to resume work. This tractor will make the work of leveling and compacting the garbage much easier, and we hope that in the next few days the landfill will be fully functional,” he explained.
Alcocer Perera added that, with the arrival of the new equipment, the collection trucks can now enter the site again and deposit the waste at the back of the landfill, where the material is rearranged.
In fact, part of the access road was already becoming saturated. However, they said that it will be cleaned as soon as they finish the current work, because now what they are looking for is to not waste their time.
At the beginning of the administration, the landfill was one of the priorities, because the amount of waste and disorder in the place was such that the access road had already disappeared.

Disappearance
Access to the Tizimín landfill has been a constant problem that, in recent administrations, completely disappeared due to the large amount of waste and disorder, with garbage even invading public roads.
Exclusive use
In the past, authorities said that the landfill would be for the exclusive use of Tizimileños, with the City Council covering all expenses, and that its operation would imply the immediate closure of the open-air garbage dumps.
