This after the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) rejected the protections filed by Salinas Group, property of Ricardo Salinas Pliegoto avoid paying more than 40 billion pesos in taxes.

“Ah, how they like to throw us on social networks! Today we presented in La Mañanera, do you know how much they allocated in the last campaign? 90 million pesos to make people think that there is a movement against us […] There has been a tremendous campaign, but we took to the streets and people are happy and it is better that they pay their taxes instead of paying for campaigns, right?” he launched.

During the launch of operations of the ISSSTE Family Medicine Clinics in Tecámac, the president accused that the campaign against her Government is driven by bots who try to manipulate public opinion.

Given this, Sheinbaum Pardo affirmed that the social perception towards his Government is positive and highlighted that his management is marked by the defense of the rule of law and democratic freedoms. Furthermore, he clarified that his administration is governed by the principle of nothing and no one above the law.

“No authoritarianism. We believe in democracy, in freedoms. But, as Juárez said, no one is above the law. Those of us who defend the rule of law are the ones who are governing and the first thing we defend are the laws and the rights of the people of Mexico,” he highlighted.

In the morning, the President analyzed the media offensive against her in recent weeks, including criticism for her response to the devastating rains in the center of the country, which left dozens of people dead, as well as the assassination of the Mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, and the march of the supposed “Generation Z”, in addition to the case of harassment she suffered. The president pointed out that the opposition thought they were going to break her because she was a woman and that was not the case.

SCJN defeats Salinas Pliego: he must pay

The SCJN rejected this Thursday to attract the first protections filed by Grupo Elektra and TV Aztecaowned by Salinas Pliego, which totals a debt of more than 40 billion pesos that has accumulated since 2008 and that, since there is no other instance to which it can resort in Mexico, it must pay.

After a series of refusals by the court to admit the various amparos processed by Grupo Salinas, the magnate’s business conglomerate has issued statements to complain that the rulings against it “will consummate the end of judicial independence and the rule of law in Mexico.”

The tax credits in dispute, determined by the SAT, exceed 40 billion pesos (mdp), including ISR, VAT, updates, surcharges and fines for years from 2008 to 2013. Now, the businessman must pay or resort to other international bodies to process his complaints.
