TIZIMÍN.— The president of the Superior Court of Justice, Erika Beatriz Torres López, The day before yesterday, Wednesday, he made a surprise visit to the Second Mixed Court to evaluate operating conditions and review progress towards the construction of its own building.
The property where the court currently operates is a washed house, small space to which he was transferred a few years ago after having operated in the Center’s offices.
During the visit, he was asked about the concerns of lawyers in the region regarding the progress of some files and the integration of recently graduated staff or law degree students who work in the court.
“Staff training has been a priority issue after the reactivation of the Judicial School in September,” he responded.
“The Judicial School “It has been reactivated and has been very busy, with workshops, diplomas and specializations,” he said. “We are seeking to reactivate all those training opportunities because we know they are necessary and the intention is to apply them with Tizimín collaborators.”
He Judiciaryhe said, works in two aspects, strengthening the updating of personnel and opening spaces for young students and recent graduates, although budget limitations make it difficult to expand the workforce.
“The resources are not enough to hire more staff and, in addition, population growth is already surpassing us in terms of attention capacity.”
“What previously could be resolved in less time, today requires more work, we are aware that there is a delay and we are working on it,” he expressed.
The judge stressed that the comprehensive operation of the service depends on several factors that must be aligned, from adequate space to the sufficiency of personnel and budget.
“When we start to add everything, that gear will be given so that the system works as it should.”
Regarding the current property, the magistrate recognized that the site is insufficient both for workers and for adequate care to users of the judicial system.
Recognition visit
In an interview, Erika Torres reported that her visit was to listen to the needs of employees and review current conditions to improve service to citizens.
“We come to know the needs of the staff and also those of citizen care, we want to work on areas of opportunity or aspects of improvement where we should focus our efforts.”
He also recognized that the lack of space is one of the main challenges of the court in Tizimín.
“We are aware that the space is already small and that is part of the opportunities for improvement,” he noted.
“Precisely for this reason we come to look for options and prospect possibilities so that in the near future we can move to a space specific to the Judiciary or, at least, to facilities in optimal conditions for collaborators and for citizen service.”
Courts in Yucatan
The different courts of Yucatán have deficiencies or shortcomings.
This year they opened six Family Orality Courts in the south of Mérida, in the restored building of the old Neuropsychiatric hospital. The investment was 162 million pesoswith the aim of strengthening care in family matters.
