House Democrats demanded that President Trump retract his statements on social media; narratives that encourage hatred and incite violence against opposition legislators.
Mexico City, November 21 (However).– Just yesterday, the newspaper The Wall Street Journal he was wondering if he President of the United States was finally “correcting course” when, in an outburst on social media, Donald Trump accused a group of legislators of sedition and that his behavior “was punished with death“. The crime of democrats was to record a video that remembered the members of the army that they should not obey illegal orders.
“¡Seditious conductpunished with death!”, he wrote Trump. He shared another post, written by someone else, that read: “George Washington I would hang them!”
This new scandal comes when the American President reaches the worst popularity levels of his two terms. This Friday, Real Clear Politics It gives 42.7 percent approval with a rejection of 55.4 percent. In The New York Timesthe low popularity is even more noticeable: 56 percent reject it with 41 percent accepting it.

Trump’s hitherto tight control over the Republican Congress could be weakening even sooner than usual, ahead of the more typical loss of power for a sitting US president following the midterm elections, he says. The New York Times. “Republicans are reacting in real time to the resounding defeat their party suffered in the midterm elections earlier this month, defeats much worse than expected. Polls also show that Trump and his party are weakened on several fronts heading into the 2026 election cycle, which will determine control of Congress,” their analysis added.
“The willingness of congressional Republicans to defy Trump and support legislation requiring the disclosure of federal files on Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender and former friend of Trump, was the clearest evidence yet that Republican lawmakers are beginning to look beyond Trump’s term, toward their own preservation in next year’s midterm elections,” the newspaper maintains.
There are other indications too, he adds. “In particular, the refusal of Republican senators to yield to Trump’s demand to eliminate the parliamentary filibuster during the government shutdown fight, and the resistance in some states to his intense pressure to redraw House district maps to consolidate GOP dominance and prevent a Democratic takeover that would endanger the President.”
Threatened with death
All six Democrats who spoke are military or intelligence community veterans. They stated in the video that members of the military should ignore orders from Trump and senior military commanders if they believe such orders violate the law. The 90-second video, which was posted online earlier this week, features Sens. Elissa Slotkin (Michigan) and Mark Kelly (Arizona) and Reps. Jason Crow (Colorado), Maggie Goodlander (New Hampshire), Chris Deluzio (Pennsylvania), and Chrissy Houlahan (Pennsylvania).

“Our laws are clear: you can refuse to comply with illegal orders,” Kelly said in the video. “You must refuse to comply with illegal orders,” Deluzio said.
The six Democrats seen in the video issued a joint statement Thursday saying they would not be intimidated: “All Americans must unite and condemn the president’s calls for our assassination and political violence.”
The message from Democratic lawmakers did not focus on a specific order or scenario, but Trump administration officials have stated that lawmakers were encouraging the military to rebel against its commander in chief. As a fundamental part of their training, members of the armed forces are taught that they must refuse to comply with illegal orders. At a press conference, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded negatively when asked if the President wanted to execute members of Congress.
He added: “If it were Republican members of Congress who were encouraging members of the United States military and government to disobey the orders of the President and the chain of command, everyone in this room would be outraged. But it happens the other way around, and I think that’s quite telling.”

House Democratic leaders issued a joint statement Thursday condemning Trump’s comments and expressing concern for the safety of Democratic lawmakers. “Donald Trump must immediately delete these unhinged social media posts and retract his violent rhetoric before he causes a death,” the statement said, adding that Democratic leaders had contacted Capitol Police to discuss security measures. All members of the armed forces have the right to refuse to comply with an illegal order. “They swore allegiance to the Constitution of the United States, not to the President or other officials in the chain of command,” says a text from The Wall Street Journal.
Lawmakers did not cite any particular order as unlawful or illegal in their video. However, Democrats have in the past questioned the legality of deploying armed forces on US soil, after Trump sent the National Guard to several cities. Lower court judges temporarily blocked the deployment of the National Guard to several communities, and a California judge ruled that sending National Guard members to Los Angeles in response to protests against immigration enforcement was illegal.
Democrats and some Republicans have also questioned the legal basis for the government’s attacks on ships supposedly transporting drugs from Latin America, which have killed dozens of people the government has described as “narcoterrorists.”
Earlier this morning, President Trump threatened me and a group of service and veteran Members of Congress with arrest, trial, and death by hanging.
