Michael Leavitt’s ex-partner was arrested by immigration agents for allegedly letting her visa expire.
Los Angeles, November 26 (LaOpinión).- The madre of the nephew of the press secretary of the White House, Caroline Leavittwas detained by agents of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICEfor its acronym in English), in Revere, Massachusetts.
The agency points out that Bruna Caroline Ferreira, of Brazilian origin, was detained for exceeding the term of her tourist visa by 26 years.
According to a report from WMURthe first outlet to report on the case, Ferreira is being held at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The brother of the White House spokesperson, Michael Leavitt – who lives in New Hampshire – has a son with Ferreira, he himself confirmed to local television.

Karoline Leavitt is originally from New Hampshire and although she knows Ferreira, the report adds that she has not spoken to her in many years.
Michael Leavitt did not want to elaborate on the arrest, citing the privacy of his son with Ferreira. He is currently married and has two children from that marriage.
Although ICE accuses Ferreira of letting her visa expire in 1999, her attorney, Todd Pomerleau, insists that she came to the United States legally and was protected under the program. DACAplus he is in the process of obtaining his Green Card.
Immigration authorities claim that the woman even faced charges of assault, but the lawyer rejects such accusations.

“Bruna has no criminal record. I don’t know where that comes from. Show us the evidence. There are no charges,” the lawyer told the television station. “She is not a criminal or an illegal immigrant; we are saying that about anyone who is not a US citizen.”
Karoline Leavitt declared to News 9 who had no comments on Ferreira’s arrest.
A recent report from the Migration Policy Institute found that 5.3 million children have at least one parent with an irregular immigration status in the United States.
