MERIDA.— A citizen report on the alleged deprivation of liberty of a person in Tizimín turned out to be false, according to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP). After the corresponding verifications, it was confirmed that it was not a kidnapping, but rather an incident resulting from a personal argument.

According to official information, the events occurred in the Santa María neighborhood of that municipality. Upon arriving at the designated location, the agents did not find any risky situation. Minutes later, the person reported as the victim returned walking to his home, with visible minor injuries, including a bruise on his nose and bruises on his face and body.

The citizen was treated by paramedics at the scene and did not require hospital transfer.

Later, when reviewing the images from a private video surveillance camera, the authorities confirmed that the man voluntarily boarded the truck in which he had left, thus ruling out any attempt to deprive him of his freedom.

According to the report, the affected person declared that he knew the person involved in the events and explained that both had had a discussion for personal reasons. He also indicated that he will not file a complaint with the corresponding authority.

The SSP urged the population to verify the information before disseminating it and recalled that emergency reports should be made only to the numbers 9-1-1 y 089.
