New Prosecutor Peter Skandalakis dropped charges of election interference in Georgia and closed the case against Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants.
MADRID, 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) – Peter Skandalakishe nuevo Fiscal leading the case against President of the United States, Donald Trumpon alleged electoral interference in the state of Georgia this Wednesday dismissed the charges against the New York tycoon and the rest of the accused within the framework of the plot.
Skandalakis – who took on the case after the Georgia Court of Appeals will separate the Fiscal Fani Willis for “conflict of interest” by having maintained a romantic relationship with the Fiscal especial Nathan Wade– indicated in a 23-page document that it has dismissed the case “to serve the interests of justice and promote judicial finality.”
“In my professional opinion, it is not in the best interest of the citizens of Georgia to pursue this case in its entirety for another five to ten years,” says the Prosecutor’s text, adding that they lack “the resources necessary to conduct multiple trials.”

Skandalakis acknowledged in his writing “the complexity” of the electoral interference scheme, which addresses “constitutional issues, the supremacy clause, immunity, jurisdiction,” as well as issues related to speedy trials and access to federal records.
“This decision is not based on the desire to promote an agenda, but on my convictions and understanding of the law,” said the Prosecutor, who has assured that he had considered separating Trump’s case from the rest of the co-defendants, although this would be “illogical” and costly for both the state and Fulton County.
“To uphold the constitutional rights to a speedy trial of the remaining defendants, the Georgia Board of Attorneys would be forced to begin trials immediately, diverting critical attention from our ongoing missions and imposing a financial burden that the agency cannot sustain,” he added.
The tycoon’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, pointed out the decision on the social network “This case should never have been filed. A fair and impartial Prosecutor has put an end to this legal war,” he said.
Sadow also published a ruling by Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee, in which he states that the case “is dismissed in its entirety” after the Prosecutor dropped the charges against Trump and the rest of the co-defendants.
The president was accused along with 18 other people of illegally pressuring state officials to annul his defeat to now former President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections, although Trump has always denounced that the case was part of a political “witch hunt.”
The alleged crimes date back to the chaotic months after those elections, when Trump refused to admit that he had lost to Biden and undertook all kinds of tricks to reverse the result, including a controversial call to the Secretary of State of Georgia, Republican Brad Raffensperger, in which he directly urged her to “find” the votes she was missing.
A Georgia jury indicted the Republican magnate and the rest of the co-defendants – including his closest collaborators, such as John Eastman, Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows – on 41 criminal charges in the framework of the electoral interference plot.
