Dhanteras, the first day of the Diwali festival, is celebrated with devotion and special rituals to invite wealth and prosperity into homes. Observed on the Trayodashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik, this festival is dedicated to Lord Kuber, the god of wealth, Goddess Laxmi, and Lord Dhanvantri, the divine healer.

Before starting the Dhanteras puja, devotees clean their homes thoroughly. It is believed that Goddess Laxmi visits clean and well-lit spaces. People also decorate entrances with rangoli, flowers, and diyas to create an auspicious environment.

Lighting the lamp: Begin by lighting a diya (oil lamp) in the puja area to invoke positive energy.

Setting up the altar: Place idols or pictures of Lord Kuber, Goddess Laxmi, and Lord Dhanvantri on a clean platform. Keep coins, silver, or new utensils as symbols of wealth nearby.

Cow worship and charity: Feed cows and offer help or medicines to the sick, honoring Lord Dhanvantri.

Buying auspicious items: Purchase new utensils, gold, or silver after the puja, as it is considered highly auspicious.
