MEXICO CITY.— The PAN deputy, Éctor Jaime Ramírez Barba, yesterday he was involved in a disagreement with the president of the Health Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, during the discussion of the ruling that proposes the total ban on vapers in Mexico.

At the beginning of the debate, Zenteno Santaella He proposed that the discussion of the opinion be carried out jointly in general and in particular, sending reservations to the Board of Directors for analysis in the plenary session. Given this, Ramirez Barba He requested a point of order and stated that the procedure was incorrect. However, the committee president proceeded to the vote without addressing his request.

“President, what you are doing is illegal. I am asking you for a point of order and you have not answered, have decency,” claimed the PAN legislator. Zenteno Santaella responded that he had already granted the motion, which was denied by Ramírez Barba: “What article did I talk about? 189, and I’m going to read it.”

When asked not to raise his voice, the PAN deputy replied: “You are not going to tell me how to raise it. You are taking away the right that corresponds to us.” The president of the commission maintained that the motion was an “interpretation” and continued the session: “Enforce legally what suits you.”

The exchange escalated when Ramírez Barba sand approached the technical secretary to question him about the application of the procedure and slammed the opinion on the desk. Zenteno Santaella called for order to be restored and described the action as an alteration of the session. Finally, Ramírez Barba left the premises.
