Chile celebrates presidential elections this Sunday, the first of its history with an automatically registered registry and mandatory voting. It is expected that the country’s next leader will be decided in a second round.
Mexico City/Santiago, November 16 (However/Agencies) More than 15.77 million people are called to vote this Sunday in the first elections presidential of Chile con stake mandatoryin a dispute between candidacies of left y far right as favorites, which will define the political course of the country for the next four years.
On this day, eight applicants compete to advance to an eventual second roundset for next December 14, in the event that none of them exceeds 50 percent of the votes today.
The contest centers between the former communist minister and candidate of the ruling party, Jeannette Jara; the leader of the local far-right, José Antonio Kast; the libertarian Deputy, Johannes Kaiser and the representative of the traditional conservative right, Evelyn Matthei.
Today in Chile you will vote for President, Deputies and, in the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Atacama, Valparaíso, Maule, La Araucanía and Aysén, for Senators.
