PROGRESO.— In a festive atmosphere and with great attendance, the kings and the official billboard of Carnival 2026 were presented, which will take place from February 5 to 18 under the motto “Live, Feel and Celebrate.”
The announcement marks the formal start of preparations for one of the most important celebrations in the municipality.
During the event, the royal court that will lead next year’s Carnival festivities was announced. The Youth Kings will be María Alareny Ochoa Chan and Andrey Alberto Ochoa Chan, while Jesús Esteban Domínguez Peón will serve as the Carnival Governor.
María Graciela Ortiz Cota and Néstor Díaz Fuentes were also presented as Kings of the Third Age; Manuel Javier Tzab Vera “Black Diamond”, as King of Diversity; Elian Natanael Villegas Zapata and Violeta Teresa Manzanilla Carrillo, as Special Kings, and finally, the little Damna Ricalde Trejo and Kellin Antonio León Rodríguez, as Children’s Kings.
It was explained that the theme will pay tribute to the kingdoms of life: mammals, birds, reptiles, marine life, insects and the plant kingdom, the latter as a symbol of growth and balance.
The Carnival Committee announced the official programming, which combines shows, parades, contests and free musical performances.
Among the most notable events on the billboard are the Burning of Bad Humor, scheduled for Thursday, February 5 at 7:30 pm, on the ground floor of the Municipal Palace, followed on Saturday, February 7 by the Coronation of the Carnival Kings, at 6 pm, at the Progreso Sports Unit, and the first concert of the edition, by Los Ángeles Azules, at 9 pm
For Thursday, February 12, the Float Parade was announced at 7:30 pm, while on Friday the 13th the Children’s Ride will take place at 4 pm; the Dog Carnival at 6 pm in Parque Independencia; the first Paseo de Corso at 8 pm; and the “Dragnaval” contest at 9:30 pm on the international boardwalk.
On Saturday, February 14, a date that will coincide with Valentine’s Day, the Fantasy and Masks Walk will take place at 7 pm on the Malecón Tradicional, followed by the Comparsas Contest at the House of Culture.
On Sunday the 15th, the Sunday Walk will begin at noon on the traditional boardwalk and will culminate with the concert by La Original Banda El Limón at 5 pm. On Monday the 16th, the Convite and the Regional Vaquería will take place, starting at 6 pm, starting from the traditional boardwalk towards the Meteorite Museum and the House of Culture.
On Tuesday the 17th, the Flores Battle Walk will take place at noon and will feature the presence of José Ron and Kim Flores, followed at 5 pm by the Ha-Ash concert.— Abraham Ismael Raz Herrera

Juan Carnival
On Wednesday, February 18, the Burning of Juan Carnaval will take place at 8 pm, on the ground floor of the Municipal Palace, which will formally conclude the festivities.
Security
Municipal authorities reported that each event will have the support of the Public Security and Traffic Directorate, the Civil Protection Unit and the Red Cross, in order to guarantee the safety of participants and attendees.
Free
The events will be free and schedules and updates will be disseminated through the official networks of the Progreso City Council and the Carnival Committee.
