The Spanish Carlos Sainz (Williams), twelfth in the Formula One World Championship, who has just made a comeback in the last Singapore Grand Prix, stated, with a view to the United States Grand Prix that will be held this weekend in Austin (Texas), that “this year, with the sprint format, it is going to be really exciting and full of action on the track.”

“It’s always great to return to Austin; and with the sprint format, this year is going to be a really exciting weekend full of action on the track,” declared the Madrid driver, with four victories in F1 and 28 podiums in the premier class; the last of them four Sundays ago in Baku, where he finished in third position.

“We have had a couple of strong weeks and we are on a good streak as a team, so I am looking forward to going out there and hopefully I can add more points with which to confirm fifth place in the Constructors’ World Championship,” said Sainz.

“Being an American-owned team, racing at home again brings a lot of energy to the weekend; in which we will be very busy, but it will be one of the best weekends of the year,” said Carlos with a view to the United States Grand Prix.—EFE

The Englishman George Russell and the Italian Kimi Antonelli will continue to be the drivers of the Mercedes team.

Confirmation

“George and Kimi have proven to be a strong couple and we are excited to continue with them. Confirming it was always a matter of time. We wanted to handle it in the best way and make sure that we were all happy and I am happy to have achieved it,” said Toto Wolff, director of Mercedes. Russell, winner of two grand prix this season, the last in Singapore, said he was “proud” to continue with the team next season.
