Cáritas Yucatán calls for the IX World Day of the Poor: this is how you can donate

The organization Caritas of YucatanAC invites the community of Yucatán to join the IX World Day of the Poorwhich will take place on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Under the motto “You, Lord, are my hope” (Ps 71, 5), this edition focuses on people and families who live in situations of extreme vulnerability.

According to the poster of said call, dozens of cases in which it is requested from monthly groceries, medications, wheelchairs, support for special medical treatmentseven mobility equipment or surgical interventions.

This initiative is framed in the context of the JWorld celebration of the poordriven by the Papa Francisco and celebrated worldwide in order to raise awareness about the throwaway culture and promote concrete solidarity.

In YucatanCáritas brings years of experience in caring for critical cases—such as serious illnesses, disabilities, homelessness, among others—through home visits, collection of life stories and comprehensive support.

This call to charity not only seeks to collect goods or donations, but also to encourage a conversion of heart towards those who need it most.

IX World Day of the Poor: cases in Yucatán

Below are the different cases in which you can collaborate, indicated by a number and the description of each one.

• 100141.- Request from a 48-year-old woman with HIV. She is a widow, lives alone, is unemployed and homeless. Without preparation, he lives in a room that a neighbor lends him. They request $3,000 for a month of groceries.

• 100146.- 30-year-old woman, with an 11-year-old son. She is unemployed and homeless. He lives in a tin house. Request $1,500 for groceries and $1,500 for rent.
• 100147.- 67-year-old woman, with two children, 41 and 43 years old. She is unemployed and homeless. He lives in a tin room. Request $1,500 for groceries and $1,500 for rent.
• 100148.- Abandoned mother with 3 children, ages one, four, and six. He lives in a tin house. Request $1,500 for groceries and $1,500 for rent.
• 100149.- 25-year-old mother with 3 children, ages one, three, and five. It is unoccupied. He lives in a tin house. Request $1,500 for groceries and $1,500 for rent.
