Bihar will vote in two phases to elect its next Assembly, with 121 seats going to polls on November 6 and the remaining 122 seats on November 11. The counting of votes for all 243 constituencies will take place on November 14. The current Assembly term ends on November 22, 2025. The Election Commission has released full polling schedules, security plans, and voter details as the state gears up for the polls.

Bihar Elections 2025 Date: Polling phases

A total of 2,616 candidates will contest across both phases. In the previous election, Bihar voted in three phases, but this time political parties supported a single or two-phase model because of festive dates.

Bihar Elections 2025: Booths and voters

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said there will be 90,712 polling booths across the state, with around 818 voters assigned to each booth on average. He said, “The final voter’s list after SIR has been given to all political parties. Post the date of nomination filing, the Voters’ list, which is to be released, will be final.”


The state has 7.42 crore voters, including 3.92 crore male and 3.5 crore female voters, as per the final electoral roll.

Polling supervision and smartphone rule

Kumar announced webcasting at all polling booths and said there will be 243 observers, one for each constituency. He also said voters will need to deposit smartphones outside the polling room.

Bihar Elections 2025 voting hours

Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm, with one extra hour for voters already in queue. Counting of votes will take place on November 14.

2025 Bihar Assembly Elections: Security deployment

More than 500 companies of Central Armed Police Forces will be deployed. This includes 121 CRPF companies and about 400 BSF companies, along with units from ITBP, CISF, and SSB. Ninety-nine BSF companies have already reached Bihar, with others moving to the state ahead of polling.
