Music, dance and performance merge in the staging of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, this year’s proposal to illuminate the Coca-Cola Castle of Dreams with art and emotion, one of the most emblematic and anticipated spaces of the Yucatán Xmatkuil 2025 Fair.
The work aims to tell a universal story about self-acceptance, inclusion, hope and human values that transcend time.
The fair will officially open tonight, and with it the Castle of Dreams will open its doors, one of the favorite attractions of Yucatecan families, which receives thousands of visitors every year. In this edition, the public will enjoy a show of high scenic and visual level, with a deep and positive message for all generations.

Last Tuesday, a fragment of the work was presented to the media, prior to its official premiere. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” can be enjoyed at different times throughout the entire period of the fair, from November 7 to 30.
Producer Ermilo Echeverría, responsible for the adaptation and general direction, explained that this classic by Víctor Hugo was chosen for its timelessness and its relevance in a society that, despite the passage of centuries, continues to seek acceptance and recognition.
“The universal values that history addresses—respect, tolerance, inclusion and acceptance—are still valid. Today, in a liquid and digital society, they continue to be as necessary as in the 15th century,” said Echeverría.

Family inspiration
The central message of this performance is to inspire families to believe that “limits only exist in the mind,” and that every dream can be achieved with determination and hope.
This year, the cast is made up of 22 artists on stage and a total team of 42 people, including technicians and support staff. The protagonists are: Cristopher Hiram Osorno Díaz as Quasimodo, Lidia Alessandra Cuc Moreno as Esmeralda, Andrik Enrique Aldana Cardeña as Captain Febo, Arturo José González Rivero as Clopan, and Juan Carlos Torres Dorantes as Judge Frollo.
The cast includes talents from various states of the Republic and Cuba. Proudly, the main role falls to a young Yucatecan, Cristopher Hiram Osorno, who years ago starred in the production inspired by Coco, playing the child Miguel when he was barely 10 years old. Now, with greater artistic maturity, he gives life to an endearing Quasimodo, a symbol of tenderness and goodness.
The show, which lasts one hour, combines music, choreography and performances of great emotional force. Inspired by the novel “Notre Dame de Paris” by Victor Hugo, it transports viewers to medieval Paris in the 15th century, among stained glass windows, gargoyles and bell towers, in a sensory experience that invites you to reflect on inner beauty, love, justice and human dignity.
Unbroken history
For this edition, the Castle of Dreams—which celebrates 26 years of presence at the Yucatán Fair—showcases a façade decorated with two gargoyles and stained glass windows inspired by the Notre Dame Cathedral, as well as an interior that recreates iconic scenes such as the bell tower and the gypsy shelter.
Echeverría, who has produced this show for 21 consecutive years, emphasizes that the objective remains the same: to offer a space where “magic, art and family coexistence” come together, reaffirming Bepensa’s commitment to culture and quality entertainment.
Within the framework of the fair, Bepensa will also have five spaces: Hydration area in Plaza Canaco, Refreshing areas in the Teatro del Pueblo, the “Bepensa in your home” module, with digital experiences and the promotional items boutique, open from Monday to Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sundays and holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
