MÉRIDA, Yucatán.— An individual was detained by elements of the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) after a location operationafter being pointed out by steal items from a department store located in Plaza The Harbornorth of the city of Merida.
According to the information collected, the subject was surprised by private security personnel when try to take a piece of clothing. When discovered, fled the establishment aboard a white van.
Thanks to the monitoring of the C5i video surveillance, It was possible to identify the license plates of the vehicle and its travel route, which allowed its location in the El Rosario Chuburná neighborhoodwhere the driver lost control and collided with a street lighting pole.
The alleged perpetrator, KAZV22 years old, original de Dzidzantúnwas arrested and placed at the disposal of the competent authorities. Inside the vehicle they found various clothing items that were secured for the corresponding legal purposes.
The Ministry of Public Security urges citizens and the commercial sector to immediately report any suspicious situation to 9-1-1 and to formalize their complaints before the competent authority, in order to guarantee proper follow-up of investigations and law enforcement.
