A truck belonging to the Army had a strong head-on collision within the military zone in the south of Mérida, in an incident that has generated concern among personnel and neighbors.
Sources close to the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) indicated that the driver of the unit could have been in an inconvenient condition.
So far there is no official confirmation that corroborates this version.
In addition, it emerged that the person behind the wheel did not have the authorization to drive the truck.
According to unofficial comments, the operator assigned to the unit would have allowed a companion to take charge of driving, which would have led to the accident.
Sedena has not issued official information about possible injuries nor has it published a statement regarding the incident.
Witnesses at the scene confirmed that on the afternoon of this Monday, December 8, a crane entered the military base to remove the damaged unit, indicating that the accident was serious enough to require specialized towing.
The exact circumstances of the accident remain under investigation by military authorities.
