PROGRESO.- The discovery of the body of a cat hanging on a sign on 62nd and 39th Street caused alarm among neighbors who reported a possible case of animal abuse before the authorities. However, upon arriving at the site, personal municipal clarified that it was not an act of deliberate cruelty.

According to what was collected at the scene, a neighbor who was passing through the area indicated that he was the one who placed the body of the feline on the sign, after The animal died after being run over half a block earlier.

The man explained that he removed the body from the road to prevent it from continuing to be crushed by vehicles and, upset by the situation, decided to hang it in plain sight as a way to attract the attention of motorists about the need to drive with caution.

Personnel from the Animal Protection Unit of the Progreso City Council, as well as elements of the Municipal Policeafter citizen reports. The agents verified the neighbor’s version and, although they recognized the intention to prevent the body from remaining on the street, they urged him to avoid this type of actions, as they can generate confusion and alarm among the population.

Animal Protection proceeded to remove the feline’s body for proper disposal. After the corresponding procedures, the authorities left the scene.
