MEXICO CITY.- The Senate of the Republic received from the president Claudia Sheinbaum the list of candidates to choose the new head of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR).
The shortlist of candidates is made up of Maribel Bojorquez, Luz María Zarza y Ernestina Godoy.
“I already sent the shortlist. There are three women“, mentioned the president, commenting that her selection responds to one of her Government mottos: “it is time for women.”
On Tuesday, the Mexican Senate approved a list of ten candidates – five women and five men -, selected from the 43 applications for the position received between last Friday and Sunday.
Now it is expected that the Senate in plenary session will elect the new head of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic.
Who could be the new Prosecutor of Mexico?
Among the candidates, stands out Ernestina Godoyformer legal advisor to Claudia Sheinbaum, a position from which she resigned to assume interim ownership of the FGR, after the resignation of Alejandro Gertz Manerolast Thursday.
Also included is Luz María Zarza Delgadoformer candidate for judge of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN). AND Maribel Bojorges Beltrangeneral coordinator of territorial investigation at the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office.

Ernestina Godoy also served as prosecutor of Mexico Cityfrom 2018 to 2024, when Claudia Sheinbaum She was head of Government of the capital (2018-2023).
From her first day as office manager, last Friday, Ernestina Godoy began to make changes in strategic areas of the FGRlike the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) and the Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Organized Crime Matters (FEMDO), where he appointed Héctor Elizalde Mora and César Oliveros Aparicio to command, respectively.
