This Thursday, Judge Luis Fernando Díaz Parra decided to link the seven detained bodyguards to trial.
Mexico City, December 28 (However).- The Mexican Army Colonel José Manuel Jiménez Mirandahead of the bodyguard team Mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo Rodríguezremains a fugitive, indicated yesterday the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Michoacán, which confirmed that it has a arrest warrant against him.
Miranda remains fugitive since the operation in which seven guards of the Mayor were captured and later linked to proceedings for qualified homicide in commission by omission.
According to the investigations, Jiménez Miranda not only coordinated the immediate security of the Mayor; He was also directly responsible for recruiting and forming the first circle of bodyguards, made up mostly of former soldiers brought from other states to reinforce the protection of the Municipal President.
His whereabouts have been unknown since the moment he managed to escape from the capture device.
The figure of the Colonel became even more relevant because he had previously headed the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, a position he held for just 28 days – from September 1 to 28, 2024. His brief tenure ended after he was accused of raping his wife and threatening her with a firearm. The Mayor himself removed him from the position.
🚨⚠️ We completed an arrest warrant against seven public servants of the municipality of Uruapan, for their probable participation in the crime of qualified homicide, in commission by omission, to the detriment of the municipal president Carlos Alberto Manzo Rodríguez.

“I received information about an alleged discussion between the Secretary of Public Security and his romantic partner. […] “I have asked the secretary to leave office until these allegations are clarified,” declared Carlos Manzo at that time.
Despite these accusations, Manzo decided to keep the Colonel at his side as head of bodyguards, in a position of total closeness and trust, a decision that is now questioned by state and federal authorities due to the weight it has in the investigation.
The seven captured bodyguards were linked to proceedings after the Prosecutor’s Office argued that, although they had direct responsibility for the mayor’s safety, they did not act to prevent the attack that ended his life. They will remain in preventive detention while the investigations progress.
Jorge Armando “N”, alias “El Licensed”, was also linked to the same criminal case, identified as the alleged mastermind of the murder. According to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), he would have been the one who gave the instructions to the young people who participated in the attack.
The absence of Colonel Jiménez Miranda is considered one of the most sensitive points of the case. His testimony and his position within Manzo’s security structure could determine whether there was negligence, serious omissions or even complicity within the body in charge of protecting the Mayor. For now, his whereabouts remain a mystery that hinders the complete clarification of the crime.
