This is how the Bath Planning Office justified the measure that will leave people with the need to drink alcohol while doing a sport without their fashionable hobby:
“Padel has louder exchanges and a faster ball impact cadence compared to tennis. Even small variations in sound levels could disturb sensitive residents.”
Bath City Council will look to relocate the slopes away from inhabited areas and use sound-absorbing materials, perhaps taking advantage of the region’s cliffs.
“The idea is to allow the development of paddle tennis in Bath without harming residents, combining planning and technical solutions to minimize the noise impact and avoid new community conflicts”added one official, feeling a little sorry for the players who were never able to play tennis and who considered basketball too “aggressive” a sport.
