After fighting an arduous battle against cancer, the singer left at 68 years of age, in peace, calm and accompanied by her closest loved ones, such as her partner of many years, the Mexican harmonica player. Lalo Méndezat his home in Mexico City, his family reported in a statement.

Verónica Ituarte left a great legacy with her interpretations and teachings, which were captured in different recording materials for her listeners and in the memory of the new generations of students to whom she taught singing and vocal scatt at the Higher School of Music of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature.
For Verónica, who recorded albums like “Verónica Ituarte live from the Chopo Museum”, “Hallucinations”, “JAZZentiste…”, “Toy Shop” and “Entirely for Me”singing offered him the freedom to express his emotions and share precise speech through his voice and music.
The singer was born in Mexico City on December 8, 1956 and she was a pioneer in vocal scatt in Mexico, becoming a reference in jazz in our country.
He worked very closely with the pianist Juan José Calatayud.

The jazz musician’s last live concert was “Jazz-Blues-Fusion”on May 9, 2025 in the Alicia Multiforum in Mexico City, where he shared the stage with the musicians Baldomero Jimenez on the floor, Arturo Luna on bass and Luis Huerta on drums. This presentation marked her return to the stage after medical treatment that kept her away, after She was diagnosed with cancer in 2023.
