Mexico City.- Merchants of San Francisco Tlaltenco in Tlahuac They have been severely affected, due to the capital government’s project to have a Utopia in the area, since the suspension of the sports car that operated in the chosen space reduced its sales by up to 50 percent.

Pedro Hernández heads a store on Antonio Bejar Diez Street, which surrounds the place where the Clara Brugada government project is already being built, and shared with Enough Diary who has had problems paying the rent for his store, since he has 50 percent less income because a large part of his clientele were people who used Deportivo El Triángulo.

“There were games there, they played and then they bought (…) they played soccer, then there they bought you water, juice, soda, or of course chela,” Pedro said.

Some street vendors who asked not to be identified also saw their income drastically reduced, however, they stated that personnel from the Government of Mexico City and the mayor’s office Tlahuacheaded by Berenice Hernandezpromised them to be able to trade within Utopia, once it is operational.

This week the capital’s president, Brugada Molina, launched the construction of Utopia in what was Deportivo El Triángulo, which according to the authorities of Mexico City, contemplates an investment of 180 million pesos in a land of more than 20 thousand square meters. However, the above occurred after neighbors strongly opposed the project.

Enough Diary reported that residents of the town denounced last June that officials of the government of Tlahuacled by Berenice Hernández, and at the capital level, supported by shock groups, invaded the ejidal property corresponding to the sports complex, where Utopia is now built.

The latter would have occurred while the residents of San Francisco Tlaltenco filed a claim for protection against the construction, arguing that it is a plan without consensus of the inhabitants, without studies and without local authorities demonstrating permits to carry out public works.

The project in question includes a semi-Olympic swimming pool, sports fields, auditorium, health center, daycare, day home for seniors and free services for women.
