From Monday night (13th) until late Wednesday afternoon (October 15th) three murders were completed and another was attempted.
The first case occurred in Barreiro on Monday night. According to the published news, a young man named Lucas was shot in the neck in Lavradio. The alert was, according to the PSP, given by a resident in the area who saw the 16-year-old running, accompanied by another young man.
In a statement, the Barreiro PSP explained that “a witness claimed to have heard the shots and immediately afterwards saw two individuals running along Rua Maria Matos towards Rua Gil Vicente, however, one of these individuals had his hand on his chest and ended up falling to the ground, in a prone position, while the second individual continued to run and asked the witness to contact emergency services.”
This security force further explained that “a few minutes later, at 11:02 pm, the South and Southeast Firefighters arrived at the scene and began first aid maneuvers for the victim and, at 11:09 pm, the Barreiro Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER) arrived, which assisted the victim, confirming the death at 11:12 pm”.
Tourist killed in Cascais
The second case occurred in the early hours of Wednesday (October 15) in Cascais, on Rua Afonso Sanches.
The PSP was called to the scene and found one person stabbed and another with injuries considered minor to the face and right elbow.
According to the PSP statement the “conscious victim” stated that “without any prior interaction, he was approached by three male individuals, who, as a provocation, tried to touch the hat that the victim was wearing”.
He then called a friend who argued with the three individuals, with one of them “using a bladed weapon (knife type), inflicted several blows on the victims’ face, arms and back. The fatal victim was attacked with the bladed weapon in the back and suffered minor injuries to his arms and face.”
The three attackers then fled the scene in a car that was parked next to the place where the deadly attack took place.
Found dead
The third fatal victim, an Irish national, was found by the PSP on Rua Costa Pimenta, in the former Casal Ventoso area, following an alert from INEM’s Urgent Patient Guidance Center (CODU) at 8:50 am.
Due to the existence of head injuries compatible with an assault, the Judiciary Police took charge of the incident.
Shot in the chest in Cova da Moura
In the early hours of Wednesday, a young man was shot in the chest in the Cova da Moura neighborhood (Amadora). He was taken to Santa Maria Hospital in serious condition.
